About the Author:
Donna Margaret Greene

As founder and director of the over 30 year faith based mentoring program, Community Ministry for Girls, Donna Margaret Greene has authored books for and guided more than 3,500 young women spanning two generations. A four time New York City Marathon runner and six year cancer survivor, she lives in Birmingham, Alabama.
On June 12, 1998, Donna Margaret Greene was diagnosed with breast cancer, a disease which took the lives of both of her grandmothers. Donna, at that time, was leading hundreds of girls each week. The diagnosis became a teaching tool for these young women. ‘I wanted to let the girls experience this journey with me’, she said. ‘Statistics show that, unless a cure is found, one out of eight women will be diagnosed with this disease during their lifetime. That means that many of ‘my girls’ could possibly face what I am facing now’, she said. And so, the girls, as well as the entire community were invited to participate in this journey from illness to wellness.
As a direct result of this experience Donna and the girls involved in the ministry became deeply involved with the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, and the Joe Lee Griffin Hope Lodge. Hearts of compassion were developed for those battling this terrible disease as the girls went to work to help find a cure for cancer by giving of their time, love and means. And, Donna began writing of this experience.
Donna is the author of:
